The Byrdstown City Council wants to encourage citizens to wear masks so they are exploring ideas to purchase customized cloth masks for residents.
Mayor Sam Gibson said if the price is right, the town will consider the purchase.
“If we can get a little bit of help on purchasing the mask, and I know the logo on the mask will cost us a little,” Gibson said. “If we can get TEMA or FEMA to help with that we may purchase some.”
Gibson said possible logos on the masks could include Pickett County Schools, Dale Hollow Lake or an American or state flag. The town added a notice in the paper last week to encourage people to wear masks.
“We encourage people to wear masks, especially outside of your families and in large groups of people,” Gibson said. “We still have a little scare in us from the virus, and we would like to get things settled down.”
