American Legion Boys State Director Marc Burnett has retired.
Burnett said it was time for a transition to the next level.
Burnett has been the director for 16 years and involved in the program for 33. He started as a counselor in 1984.
Boys State took place last week at Tennessee Tech. More than 500 high school junior boys took part in the program. They studied government and set up a mock state, complete with county and local governments.
Burnett also serves as Vice President of Student Affairs at Tennessee Tech and a church pastor.
There is no word yet on who the new director will be.
