The burn ban has been lifted for DeKalb County.
The ban was lifted a day after burn restrictions were removed for most of the Upper Cumberland. The county also has no burn restrictions. Overton County is the only county in the Upper Cumberland under restrictions.
Burn permits are still required for all open burning. You can apply for a burn permit online. Burn permits are required for open fires until May 15.
A burn ban was issued by the state on Thursday for DeKalb County. Burn permits had not been issued in the Upper Cumberland since November 2.
Burn bans are issued by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture and the Governor and institute large fines and potential jail time for those who break the ban. Burn restrictions are issued by local forestry officials. Citations can be issued for burning without a permit.
