Burgess Falls Road in White County reopened today after years of erosion washed away the culvert base.
White County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said water started running underneath the structure. Robinson said the new fix will allow for water to run through and over it, creating a longer lasting road.
“It was a little bit more than just like your basic culvert, this was kind of like… for lack of a better term it was a bridge,” Robinson said. “It was a very small bridge, it had concrete support and a concrete base and it went over a little, small stream there.”
Robinson said that T-DOT built a new foundation to the structure so the road could reopen. He said there is still a possibility of followup work to do some paving and resurfacing in this area.
