A 124-year old Cookeville business closing its doors in days.
Borden Jewelry & Gifts announced it will permanently close August 31. The jeweler has been operating in the city since 1900.
Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter said the Bordens have been icons in the community and thanked them for their many years of service.
The company said it is grateful for the support they have had over the years and that anyone who still needs to pick up an order from the store should call.
Porter asked the community to keep the family in their prayers as it must have been a very difficult decision to close such a historic business.
