Bomb Threat Forces Pickett County Schools To Close

All Pickett County schools have dismissed early today following a bomb threat at Pickett County High School.

Sheriff Dana Dowdy said students have evacuated to nearby Pickett County K8 School and parents can pick up children at that location.

Dowdy said the his deputies are interviewing one person who may be responsible for the crime, but no arrest has been made.

“We’ve checked to make sure that everyone is OK and everybody is safe at this point,” Dowdy said. “Don’t panic and let us get the kids dispersed out to their homes without a lot of chaos.”

Dowdy said he will be releasing more information later today.
