Body Of Missing Putnam Teen Found In East Cookeville

The body of a Putnam County teenager reported missing Wednesday was found Thursday in east Cookeville.

15-year-old Olivia Daryl Taylor was a student at Upperman High School. County road department employees found her body in a wooded area Thursday.

She was reported missing Wednesday.

Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris said it is still early in the investigation, but it is being treated as a homicide.

One arrest has been made in the investigation. Deputies arrested Charles “Chuck” Carter Wednesday night on charges of Aggravated Statutory Rape. He is being held in the Putnam County Jail without bond.

Sheriffs officials said Carter is now a suspect in the death investigation.

Taylor’s body will be sent for autopsy to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville.
