Area rescue crews located the body of a missing kayaker in Smith County Sunday morning.
The unidentified 18-year-old kayaker went missing around 1:30 p.m. Saturday near Betty’s Island in Buffalo Valley.
Crews searched for the teen into Saturday night and resumed searching around 7 AM Sunday. Smith County Rescue Squad officials said crews located the body further down the Caney Fork River.
The Putnam County and Jackson County Rescue Squads assisted in the search efforts.
