Sparta’s Board of Mayor and Alderman may approve an updated personnel manual for city employees next month.
The board reviewed a presentation from MTAS representative Joe Grubb and City Administrator Chris Dorsey at its regular meeting Thursday.
“We needed to update our manual to keep up with all the new employment laws and things of that nature so time for us to get everything we had updated,” Dorsey said.
The new personnel manual is the product of nearly 8 months of review, Dorsey said.
The Municipal Technical Advisory Service sent Grubb to review the city’s policies and help with the process. Now it’s up to the board to approve next month.
“They each want to have 30 days to read it and bring it back up for discussion and vote at the second meeting in August,” Dorsey said.
The board is set to vote on the new personnel manual at its August 17 meeting.
