The White County Board of Education will add signage to its board room denoting its recent dedication to Kenneth Robinson and Richard McBride.
Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger said they could put a vinyl sign with the district’s logo on the wall of the board room as well as text reading “The Robinson and McBride Board Room.” Board Member Jayson McDonald said he wants to invite the families of the late board members to see the additions after they are complete.
“I’d like to move forward with the vinyl in here and go with the metal sign out there and let our students be involved in that,” McDonald said. “I know that probably couldn’t be done for our next meeting, but our next meeting’s not here – our next meeting is here, and I’d like to be able to get the, this in here done before then and maybe get the families here.”
Board Member Adam Hickey said they should have one of the signs made out of metal and get their high school students to put it together. Dronebarger said the whole project would cost $250 if all the decorations were vinyl, but the metal sign would increase the overall price.
“We just have to pay for the metal but they can do all that, they can cut all that,” Dronebarger said. “It’d be a little more expensive to do that, but it is possible.”
Hickey said that having the students create the sign would get them invested in the project as well.
