Blood Assurance officials have a unique and free way to help Texas.
Donor Recruiter Trudy Cody said each blood donation helps three people.
“We’re sending blood to support Gulf Coast Regional Center and Coastal Bend Blood Center for the next several weeks. We’ll take care of our local hospital needs as usual, but we’ll be sending blood above and beyond to the great people of Texas,” Cody said.
Several blood drives are scheduled around the area. Life Church in Cookeville will hold a blood drive from 2-6 p.m. Wednesday. River Park Hospital in McMinnville will hold one from noon to 5:30 p.m. Cumberland River Hospital in Celina will hold one from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8. Anyone can stop by Blood Assurance on Broad Street from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
“It’s an excellent way to help because the only way we can send the blood to them is if people donate, we need blood daily, it’s needed daily, and in this case, they really need it we need to ship it out every day, we need to ship as much as we can,” Cody said.
Donation costs nothing, Trudy said. She recommends drinking plenty of water and eating a good meal before donating. No appointment is necessary, but for more information or to make an appointment, visit BloodAssurance.org.
