Bids Rejected For New Pickett County Jail

The Pickett County Corrections Partnership Committee has opened the bids for the new jail project.

County Executive Richard Daniel said all bids came in too high.

“At least now we know what the bidders concerns are and the plans will be re modified and sent out to re-bid,” Daniel said. “We will go into a little bit of re-design and re-submit that.”

Daniel said the county should know the bid by July 12th.

Pickett County hopes to build the new jail for $8 million or less.

The future 54 bed facility will be located off of West Main Street in Byrdstown, about a half mile from downtown.
