The White County Warriors will host Red Bank in the opening round of the TSSAA Playoffs and head coach Curtis Beaty said the Sparta home crowd will be a factor this Friday night.
The Warriors rallied from a 49-7 homecoming loss to Upperman by going unbeaten in their last five to earn home field advantage in round one. Beaty said Dee Harris Field is a tough place for opponents to play not only for the fans, but due to the student band.
“We have, I’m going to say the best band in the state,” Beaty said. “I’m sure there’s other coaches out there that would argue their band, but our band shows up and put out force. There’s a lot of times that they do things from the stands that impacts the game more than they will ever know. We’re forever grateful for our band and how good they are.”
Beaty said he brags on band director Roger Mills whenever he gets the chance. In his third season as Warrior head coach, Beaty has brought the program to the playoffs for the second time. He said their fans were starving for some postseason football.
“We’re excited to see the fans and the community come out and we’ll live off their energy,” Beaty said. “We just hope that we’re executing and preparing enough to be able to give them what they’re looking for.”
With the program making the playoffs two of the last three seasons, Beaty said the program is well on its way to where they want to be. Beaty has been on White County’s staff since 2017 and said after many down years, making the playoffs is a blessing.
White County versus Red Bank, Friday night, kickoff at 7pm.
