Middle Tennessee’s Better Business Bureau said thieves have been sending out emails with their name and logo.
If you receive an email from the BBB, it may actually be a phishing scam.
Phishing scams look legitimate, but are really fronts to steal passwords and account information.
The BBB said it’s working with law enforcement and a private firm to get the emails stopped. If you receive them, the BBB said people should not click the links in the email. If it’s addressed “Dear member” instead of a name, it’s not legitimate. Also if it asks you to do some kind of radical action, like “pay a fee or we’ll close your account” it’s not legitimate.
