City of Baxter will address its trash pick-up issues through the purchase of a new garbage truck.
Mayor John Martin said their current truck is several years old and breaks down frequently.
“I know a lot of our customers, we’ve had to delay picking up,” Martin said. “I know Monterey has been gracious enough to loan theirs in cases of emergency, there were two different times they helped up out on that. We found a new one, so we just went ahead and purchased it.”
Martin said the city council will consider a $214,000 capital outlay note to pay for the vehicle. He said the need has been there to replace the garbage truck for some time, and the city finally feels it is financially possible to do so.
Martin said they hope to receive the truck by February.
