Baxter will explore paving in two places that have been difficult for drivers to navigate in recent years.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved opening for bids to repave Fast Lane and Upperman Lane at its Thursday night meeting.
Baxter Mayor John Martin said the surface along Upperman Lane had become an eyesore. He said the one-lane road running between 1st Street and 4th Street needs to be widened. Several board members agreed. The board will now seek bids.
Fast Lane runs adjacent to the commercial development at Interstate 40.
“There’s a section there that’s really in bad shape,” Martin said.
The board also voted to accept bids to stripe and seal the parking lot at city hall.
“We’ve never had as far as I know our parking lot sealed and striped,” Martin said. “I think it’s time to do that.”
