Baxter officials expect the new NAPA Auto Parts store to open within the next eight or nine weeks.
Baxter Mayor John Martin said the city gave approval last week for electricity to be turned on at the store.
“My understanding is that they will have a soft opening to start with, where people can go in a probably shop and get what they want,” Martin said. “I think their grand opening will probably take place the first of the year.”
Martin said crews are still working to get the parking lot paved before cold weather sets in.
In July of 2017, the owners of the Cookeville NAPA store announced they had purchased property on Fast Lane for the purpose of building a NAPA in Baxter.
Meantime, crews have finished putting the roof on the new Shell station. That store will feature a Papa Johns when it opens across from the Speedway.
