The town of Baxter has launched a new website.
Mayor John Martin said city officials began working on the new website nearly a year ago.
“We’ve been working on this since July of last year,” Martin said. “We just felt like it was time to make a change because what we previously had was a decent site, but nothing like what we’ve got now.”
Martin said cityofbaxter.com allows outsiders to find out more information about the city.
“It’s for future industry or residential people that’s looking for a really nice place to live,” Martin said. “It tells everything about Baxter and we’re going to add more to it, as far as the subdivisions that we’ve got coming. It’s an enhancement to our city by showing people what we really have to offer.”
Baxter City Recorder Sharon Carlile did most of the work on the new website. She said the site keeps residents more up-to-date with information pertaining to building codes and permits.
“The police officers are also on there so people know who they are going to deal with when they have a problem or issue,” Carlile said. “Overall, it just keeps people updated and it’s a little bit easier to use.”
The new website continues to provide residents the option to pay property taxes and utility bills online.
Carlile said the city plans to add a business directory to the website in the near future.
