Baxter Golf Simulators Set to Open Mid-July

Baxter will get a new source of entertainment next month, with the opening of a new golf simulator.

Tee Up will open in Mid-July. Golf simulators allow golfers to play a round of golf without going to a golf course. Partner Lynn McHenry said simulators will contain three bays for people to use.

“It will, you know, bring customers in and obviously provide some tax dollars,” McHenry said. “And it will let people see the downtown Baxter area, so it’s going to hopefully bring some people that have not really seen what Baxter has to offer to the community.”

Construction is almost complete. McHenry said ownership is still waiting to complete some business side of things before opening.

“It’s basically done,” McHenry said “Just a few minor things and so we are wrapping that up and we are hoping to have all that completed within the next month.”

The simulators use advanced systems and a screen to provide feedback on a golfer’s swing, exit velocity, and distance while playing a round of golf. McHenry said he is excited about the simulators because people can now play a round of golf whether rain or shine.

“It’s all of the great benefits of golfing without all the hard work of walking and fighting the elements,” McHenry said.

McHenry said some benefits of simulators are they take up way less space and are easier to build than an actual golf course. The golf simulator idea came to fruition about six months ago.
