Baxter FD To Hire Additional Part-Time Worker

The Baxter Fire Department will be hiring at least one additional part-time worker.

Captain Adam Brown said the department has experienced some issues with firefighters being out for extended periods of time.

“Sicknesses within the city employees as well as families and we are actually having some difficulties staffing some of our shifts,” brown said. “We would like to bring one more person on to help us with those shortfalls.”

Baxter Fire Chief Matthew White has already received two or three applications for the position.

Brown said the new hire will cause no change to the monetary commitments to the city.

“Those are all in the budget,” Brown said. “This will just be someone to help us make sure we have critical staffing.”

The Baxter Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved the new hire earlier this month.
