Baxter City Council passed the 2018-19 fiscal year budget during Tuesday’s meeting.
Under the new budget, city employees will receive a raise as part of the new fiscal year.
Baxter Police Chief Danny Holmes said his department is thankful for the work done by City Council.
“We know how hard it is for you all to make decisions,” Holmes said. “Giving raises to the Baxter officers and all the city employees… It makes me feel good that these officers are out here risking their lives, each and every night, and the more money we get, the better we feel.”
The city’s property tax remains unchanged under the new budget, holding at $1.39.
The new city budget goes into effect July 1.
