Baxter City Hall Getting COVID-19 Safety Upgrades

Baxter City Hall will not reopen until COVID-19 safety upgrades are completed.

Mayor John Martin said the $4,000 project should complete later this month.

“The doors are locked for the time being,” Martin said. “The people that come to the door, we always answer the door, and take care of any issues that any individual has. Everything is ordered, we’re putting new counter tops and a glass barrier.”

City employees are currently meeting customers outside upon arrival. Martin said residents can use the walk up window. He said this system will maintain employee safety.

“Everything has been great, even all the people that come to our city hall has been really nice about it,” Martin said. “I know it’s an inconvenience, but it’s just something that we’re protecting our employees and we just hope that everyone understands that.”

Bids for the project were accepted by city officials.
