Baxter Begins Sewer Rehab Project

The City of Baxter has begun working on the city’s sewer rehabilitation project.

Baxter Mayor Danny Holmes said the $1,8 million sewer rehabilitation project is aimed to improve the city’s sewer system efficiency. Holmes said he is excited to finally begin the extensive project.

“It’s already started and they are doing pipe bursting at this time,” Holmes said. “So we are looking forward to that, it’s a long time overdue and we need that.”

Holmes said the contractor has about a year to get the project finished. Holmes said the project should not cause the city’s water to be shut off for an extended period of time.

“Not at all,” Holmes said. “No one should go without water and we are just hoping everything goes to plan.”

Holmes said he looks forward to when the project is fully completed.
