The Save The Children Foundation’s 100 Days of Reading Back to School event is coming to Dogwood Park Saturday.
Putnam County Schools Academic Social Interventionist Cindy Putman said kids will get a new backpack filled with school supplies. Putman said the event from 10:00 AM to noon will be first come, first served.
“Because of the work that I do with WCTE, we’re partnering with the Save The Children Foundation,” Putman said. “They’re bringing the bus and it wasn’t supposed to come to Cookeville and they had like $15,000 worth of school supplies that they’re going to give out that day.”
Putman said the WCTE Education Department will be at the park with games and activities for kids to enjoy. Putman said there will be other non-profits and community partners at the event who all support kids and families gearing up for school.
Those included in the event to support literacy, while sending kids to school confidently include The Putnam County Library System and Power of Putnam.
