Aviary Coming To Edgar Evins State Park’s Interpretive Center

An aviary that will house rehabilitated raptors will soon open at Edgar Evins State Park.

Park Manager Kenny Gragg said it’s a new opportunity to program at the park and to educate the public about birds of prey.

“We would hope that at some point, working with the bird, that we could actually take the birds our of the cage and take it to schools,” Gragg said. Actually teach right there in school.

“It’s going to give the public to see these birds up close and it’s an excellent interpretive opportunity,” Gragg said.

Gragg said the aviary will be an addition to the park’s popular interpretive center. He hopes it will be holding birds by June.

Local Girl Scouts have aided in construction.
