Arts Grant To Help Storyfest

A total of 10 Upper Cumberland arts groups were awarded Arts Build Communities grants.

Groups applied for money to make events and project easier.

The Cookeville History Museum will use its $1,580 grant to improve Storyfest in the Park.

Beth Thompson is museums manager for the city of Cookeville.

“This next year we’ll be expanding to adding a couple food trucks, doing an artist alley with visual artists as well as storytelling artists, which helps to reach more artists and more patrons,” Thompson said.

Thompson said the festival will be in its fifth year.

“Also this is a free festival which is really important to us, the Tennessee Arts Commission has just made that more possible, so we’re so pleased about that,” Thompson said.

The next Storyfest is set for May 5 at Dogwood Park.
