Artists Needing Relief Can Apply To Arts Council

The Cookeville Arts Council will make financial relief available to artists struggling financially because of the COVID-19 shutdown.

President Rachel Salter said the relief fund is available for artists who rely on commission or business being open for income.

“We had some extra funding in our account and wanted to use that funding to help those artists who might be affected by COVID-19 or who might see a downturn in their business during this difficult time,” Salter said.

The deadline to submit an application is May 15. Late applications will not be accepted. Salter said each applicant could receive up to $500.

“It’s a quick little form to apply, so I hope people take advantage and I hope to hear from people,” Salter said.

Salter said the money is leftover funds from 2019 grant awards and arts membership fees.

“I hope people take advantage of the opportunity and apply,” Salter said. “We’re happy to be able to be in a position to support local artists in the community.
