The Trial Court Vacancy Commission has set a June 12th deadline for applications for the new Criminal Court Judgeship in the 13th Judicial District.
The new judicial positions were enacted by Tennessee legislators in May. The 13th Judicial District experienced a more than seven percent increase in population between 2010 and 2020. The three most recent Weighted Caseload Studies conducted by the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury found a consistent need for an additional judicial position.
The deadline to apply for the position is June 12th. Applicants must be an attorney licensed in Tennessee who is at least 30 years of age, a resident of the state for five years, and must reside in the relevant Judicial District.
The position would start September 1st.
