Candidates from across the eastern U.S. have applied for the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce CEO position.
The Chamber Executive Committee on Friday afternoon chose not to release the number of candidates because the deadline to apply had not yet ended. Chairman Phillip Baker did say that the chamber had received applications from people located all over the eastern U.S.
The Executive Committee will meet Thursday to begin discussing the next steps in screening each candidate and beginning the interview process.
The chamber began searching for a new leader after current CEO George Halford announced his retirement at the beginning of last year. The search committee decided last month to restart the search process after inviting two candidates for interviews in late 2019.
Halford will continue his leadership role until the selection of a new CEO occurs. He has served as the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce CEO for the past 16-years.
