The days of punching a meal ticket are a distant memory in some of our schools.
Stacy Bradford is the Fund Accountant for Putnam County School Nutrition. She said Putnam County has used the My School Bucks App for a number of years to help parents keep up with the amount of money their students have to pay for lunch.
“It’s actually a great tool to monitor spending,” Bradford said. “They can see what their children are buying, they can see what the balance is, and they can set up auto payments. Once it gets to a certain balance, it will automatically apply payment of what they choose.
Bradford said the app is available for both iPhone and Android users. She said she suggests setting up the initial account on the My School Bucks website from a desktop computer before switching to the mobile app.
“This is super easy,” Bradford said. “As a parent myself, I can monitor what my child is spending. If there’s ever any questions, you can feel free to contact your cafeteria manager for those questions.”
Since a family can add all their students in one place, Bradford said the app is an efficient way for families to quickly see how each individual account is doing and when they need attention. She said the only sign up for the program is on the website itself.
“It’s really easy to sign up,” Bradford said. “It only takes a minute or two. Once you have that set up you can add your students into your account. You can add all students you have in the district to that account.”
