Another Algood City Council member has resigned, leaving the council with two vacancies to fill.
Tuesday night Richard Heard said he had to resign from his council seat because he recently moved out of the Algood city limits.
“It’s been an honor and I’m very fortunate that the city of Algood has elected me to this position,” Heard said. “It’s been a fantastic experience working for you guys and working for the city. We’ve done a lot of good, made a lot of progress, and I’m very blessed and hope it continues in the direction it’s in.”
His resignation came on the same night the council planned to select someone to fill a council seat left vacant by Jennifer Green in February.
Algood Mayor Scott Bilbrey did not show up for Tuesday night’s meeting, which left the council without a quorum to conduct the meeting.
