Annual Chili Challenge Set For Friday

Teen Challenge of the Upper Cumberland will host its fifth annual Chili Challenge Friday at Livingston’s Central Park.

Executive Director Tim McLauchlin said the challenge has been a simple formula that’s worked well for the group over the years.

“Not only does it raise money but it really raises awareness in the community and that’s what we love, unlike banquets and golf tournaments where only select people come, everybody in the community likes to come out and have a bowl of chili,” McLauchlin said.

The $10 entrance fee lets attendees sample chili from up to 32 vendors.

“The people that are coming in actually get to vote on who they think the best chili is and while they’re out there our ladies that are in the Teen Challenge program will be singing and sharing testimony and telling about what God’s done in their life,” McLauchlin said.

The Chili Challenge runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Livingston’s Central Park.
