American Job Center Hosting 2 Job Fairs This Month

The American Job Center kicks off its June career fairs in Celina Friday.

Veterans Employment Representative Jon Oskowski said nine employers will be at the Clay County Chamber of Commerce.

“More and more people are coming out to the job fairs that we’ve had,” Oskowski said. “I’ve been told that from comparison to a year to two years ago from now that the numbers are increasing. I am hoping that trend continues.”

Oskowski said he has been working with the local chamber to increase workforce participation. Oskowski said he has recruited several Kentuckian and local companies that will be ready to hire.

“I’m working with a local veterans employment representative in Kentucky to find employers that are pulling employees from Clay County and pulling those employers into the job fair, so the people in Clay County can find good quality jobs,” Oskowski said.

Oskowski said a second job fair will be held on June 23rd at TCAT Livingston. Oskowski said the job center wants to show young students that they do not need to move in order to find a career.

“We lose good people and kids because they go to other states,” Oskowski said. “We’re trying to show them at the TCAT that there are opportunities here around us, and employers are looking for trades and good candidates. It’s kind of a perfect fit for us to go to TCAT Livingston.”

While the American Job Center is located in Cookeville, Oskowski said he works everyday to reach seven counties in the region. The Celina job fair begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m. Th Livingston job fair starts at 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
