The Allardt Fire Department will be getting a new tanker truck thanks to a Community Development Block Grant. Allardt Fire Chief Larry Cooper said the new truck will get more water the scene of fire.
“If there wasn’t CDBG grants or AFG grants through the federal government, small communities like ours just couldn’t purchase these trucks to help the communities,” Cooper said. “We make all of our money through fundraising so this is a lifeline for us.”
The $223,000 grant will require a $28,000 match from the city.
Allardt is not the only Fentress County town to benefit off the CDBG grants this year. Jamestown has received a $525,000 grant for sewer system improvements.
