A rezoning ordinance of a piece of property in Algood failed after the city’s Planning Commission gave it a negative recommendation.
Algood City Administer Keith Morrison said the item on Tuesday’s agenda failed to receive a motion to even consider it.
“The planning commission on a rezoning ordinance either recommends for or against, and then it goes to the council,” Morrison said. “This was for a zoning classification of approximately 1.18 acres between West Washington Street and West Church Street. It was going to be rezoned from R-1 to R-2.”
The ordinance would have changed the parcel from Low Density residential to Medium Density residential.
Morrison said that since the ordinance failed on its first reading, it will not go any further.
