Algood To Upgrade Phone System With Twin Lakes

City of Algood is set to upgrade its phone system to make it more up-to-date.

City Administrator Keith Morrison said the system was already outdated when city hall was built in 2013. He said the new system with Twin Lakes is set to cost some $12,500.

“And at this point, we need to fix some things and some extensions and different things and we can’t make any more changes to it and it required a system upgrade,” Morrison said. “And that’s what Twin Lakes proposed, is giving us a new phone system. It will be a voiceover IT system that will allow us to update it.”

Morrison said the upgrades will give the city the opportunity to add phone lines as needed and easily address issues in-house.

Morrison said the system itself was ordered Thursday. He said citizens should not expect any difficulties contacting the city while the system is in the process of upgrading.

“There won’t be necessarily any changes they’ll still be able to call in on the phone numbers while we work on this transition,” Morrison said. “And hopefully, with the new system in place we’ll be able to make it easier for folks to get a hold of people and know which extension to hit when they call in.”
