Algood To Hold Off On Selecting Council Members

The city of Algood will hold off on making appointments to the two remaining vacant city council seats.

Mayor Kirk Dyer said rushing the appointments wouldn’t be fair to the citizens.

“Before next month’s meeting in December we will have a work session to hear from any and every citizen of this town that wants to be considered for those vacant seats,” Dyers said. “I feel like that’s the best way to handle this going forward.”

The next city council meeting will be held December 12th and the work session will be held on the 11th.

The city council could have appointed at least one of the two seats Monday night, but Dyer made a motion to table the appointment.

TDyer and Counciwoman Carolyn Norris did select Bill Bilbrey to serve on the council Monday night to give the council an official quorum so they could conduct city business.
