The bidding process will soon begin for Algood’s sewer rehabilitation project.
City Administrator Keith Morrison said easement negotiations have entered the final stages.
“We have one we are working on. We are nearing completion on it,” Morrison said. “We’re going to go ahead and get the project ready to bid and get construction ready to start.”
The $2.1 million project will expand sewer services to homes in the Brookside area. Main Street will see a new water line installed as well.
The previous council approved the project in 2017 and the city began the easement phase last summer. Morrison said he hopes to see dirt moving later this summer.
“We’re hoping to begin construction by the end of summer before it gets too wet,” Morrison said. “By fall we would have some of it already rolling.”
Morrison said he expects the entire project to take between nine and 12 months to complete.
