Algood is seeking bids for the final phase of a project connecting sidewalk from Trinity Church to McDonald’s.
City Administrator Keith Morrison said the area has experienced higher volumes of foot traffic in recent years.
“There were some areas that didn’t have completed sidewalks and we’ve tried to put that in and make complete loops throughout town,” Morrison said. “Especially between the downtown section. There was sidewalk from Rileys Path to Walmart, but there wasn’t any sidewalk from Rileys Path to Trinity.”
The winning bidder will be in charge of completing the project by adding sidewalk from Speedway to Big Mac Drive.
Morrison said the city is asking for the bids to be per square foot so he can look at adding sidewalk to other areas around town.
“We’ve asked for the bids to be good through December 31st of 2019,” Morrison said. “That way, when the fiscal year changes, we can look at pouring again.”
Morrison said the city will also look at repairing sidewalks in certain areas of town.
The city will open bids February 5th.
