During a special-called meeting Monday night the Algood City Council voted to purchase 12-acres of land for a future park development.
The land sits right off Main Street just before Thompson Lane. City Administrator Keith Morrison said the city purchased the land for a total of $420,000.
“We look to build a park for the citizens of Algood,” Morrison said. “We are hoping to sit down and makes some plans, get some citizen input, and see how this develops as we move forward.”
The city has a park board that will direct several future meetings to discuss the park.
