Algood has purchased a cloud service server to replace its current in-house server.
Algood City Administrator Keith Morrison said the service will cost the city $25,000 over five years.
“It’s going to be cloud backup storage that will always be stored at multiple locations so we don’t have to worry about losing our data,” Morrison said. “It’s also going to allow us to cut some other fees where we are having to use outside vendors for email services.”
Morrison said it should be a safeguard in case any type of disaster occurs at city hall.
Some files on the utility side will have to remain on a hard-frame server, Morrison said.
The city hopes to have the new server in place within the next few months
