Algood Police had to tase the companion of a shoplifting suspect Wednesday night after the man tried to interfere with the investigation.
Police responded to the Algood Wal Mart. They were questioning the woman, Allyson Young, when Brandon Loughman began to aggressively interfere, according to Algood Police. The officer, Sgt. Ryan Allred, tased Loughman and placed him into custody. Young began to flee the scene, still wearing the officer’s handcuffs.
A Wal Mart shopper intervened, slowing the woman until another officer could apprehend her.
The Putnam County Justice Center would not accept either person because of COVID-19. Young charged with shoplifting, evading arrest, resisting arrest, simple possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm under the influence. Officers transported Young to Sparta on an outstanding drug warrant.
EMS treated Loughman on the scene for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
