Algood Police Department wanting to the public to start taking in what is called the “9 p.m. Routine.”
Chief Dale Armour said the goal is to get people in the habit of locking up their cars and homes at night and making sure valuables are secured. He said there have been a few car break-ins in the area recently, and this seems like a good campaign to push forward.
“We just want people to remember that they have valuables,” Armour said. “A lot of times people will come home at night and you don’t think about it or you think hey I’ll come back for it in a few months and you forget it. So that’s what we’re using this for.”
Armour said it never hurts to be extra cautious. He said the police department will publish a post on its Facebook page at 9 p.m. in hopes the efforts continue.
Armor said people now will use cameras and lights on their homes now which will continue to help improve safety to the city. He said this is just another free way to protect people’s homes and valuables.
