The Algood Planning Commission has approved the final site plan for a third Putnam Properties Apartment Complex.
The building will complete a “horseshoe” shape of buildings in the Quarry Run development. They have two complexes there now and this will complete the third leg. UCDD Planner Tommy Lee said since the first two dwellings were built, requirements for multi-family developments have changed in the zoning ordinance.
“Them wanting to complete that third arm is not compliant anymore,” Lee said. “They requested these two variances so they could basically build the same building for visual symmetry, so it’ll look the same.”
The zoning appeals approved the variances and the planning commission approved the site plan, so the project can now go forward. Lee said the fire protection in the building is above and beyond and that also led to the approval of the variance.
The planning commission took no action on the establishment of a 64,000-square-foot heavy equipment rental facility because the storm water calculations were incomplete. Lee said he expects the facility will be approved if the storm water calculations come back compliant.
