The Algood Planning Commission has approved a rezoning request for a property on East Main Street.
Planning Director Tommy Lee said Putnam Properties is looking to develop a new multifamily structure at the 299 East Main Street location.
“They were wanting to rezone the property from general commercial to high density residential,” Lee said. “For the purpose of establishing the third building of the Quarry Run multifamily residential development.”
Lee said a residential structure is currently on the property. Next, the Algood City Council has to approve the zoning change. A public hearing will be scheduled if the request passes the first reading.
“There will be another public hearing, so if there are any citizens that have any thoughts one way or another about the rezoning,” Lee said. “They can come and make their statement at that time.”
