Algood City Administrator Keith Morrison will interview for the Sparta City Administrator position Tuesday.
Sparta officials have selected Morrison and one other person as finalists for the job.
Algood Mayor Lisa Chapman-Fowler said she supports Morrison and his decision.
“Keith’s been with the city of Algood for quite some time and he’s done a good job for us,” Chapman-Fowler said. “I cannot fault anyone for wanting to make more money and be challenged in a bigger city. I wish him the very best.”
Morrison notified Algood City Council of his decision to apply for the job via email on Monday. Morrison has served as Algood’s city administrator since April 2013.
The Sparta city administrator position opened up after Chris Dorsey resigned earlier this year to accept a position in East Ridge.
Sparta officials will interview the candidates during a public meeting scheduled for Tuesday morning at city hall.
