The Upper Cumberland’s latest act of giving occurred at the Algood McDonald’s Thursday.
Thomas Daniels is the Operations Manager for Funderburk Management which oversees the Algood location. He said at least 100 customers ‘paid it forward’ by paying for other customers’ purchases.
“It’s really cool. We want to be part of the community and we take pride in the fact that our restaurants are a part of the community,” Daniels said. “We do a lot of support for local schools and local organizations. It’s just neat when something like that happens, and it means we’re doing the right thing. People appreciate the location and appreciate each other. It’s cool.”
Daniels said it’s unclear as to how the giving began as customers continued to pay for the next car in the drive thru.
“It just sort of organically happened on its own,” Daniels said. “One customer started it a couple of hours ago and it’s just continued.”
The Algood McDonald’s is located at 300 Big Mac Drive off Highway 111.
