Algood Fire Hall to Be Completed in December

The new Algood fire hall is expected to be completed by Christmas of this year.

City Manager Keith Morrison said during Tuesday’s Algood City Council meeting that construction has already begun.

“The fire hall is under construction at this time,” Morrison said. “They started walls and insulation [Tuesday]. That is expected to be completed by December of 2018.”

Morrison said during Monday’s council work session the project was ahead of schedule at one point, but weather put crews about a week behind.

“Originally they were behind two weeks. They gained two weeks back with the start of construction on the building [and] got ahead of schedule,” Morrison said. “Now I think we’re about six days behind schedule with the rain. They were able to get most of the framing up. They had a couple issues where the connections are.”

Once the roof is installed, crews are expected to continue working on the interior of the fire hall without weather threatening completion.
