Algood Awarded $50K Grant For Future Park

Tennessee Healthy Parks has awarded a $50,000 grant to the city of Algood.

Funding from the non-matching grant will be used to conduct a master plan for the city’s future 22 acre park, which will be located off Main Street just before Thompson Lane.

City Administrator Keith Morrison said the planning for the park will center around recommendations from city residents.

“We definitely have to address parking and bathrooms,” Morrison said. “We were asked for a walking trail, playground, and tro consider a pool or a water feature. All of that will be incorporated into the plan as we go into the design phase.”

The city held several public meetings last year where residents could provide input on what they would like to be included in the park.

The city plans to hire an engineering or architectural firm to come up with the master plan for the park.
