Algood City Council voted Tuesday night to purchase two new budgeted police vehicles, but when they will arrive remains a bigger question.
“I sent a message Friday and I have yet to hear back from the supplier that’s on state contract,” Algood Police Chief Dale Armour said. “I’m kind of at their mercy about when they get them, but I actually reserved two cars. I didn’t order them. I reserved two cars in February. Told them that because of our fleet plan we would probably be looking at two and still have heard back.”
The city just received the cars in May that it purchased in 2022. Armour said he hopes to continue with the Fords already in the fleet. The price tag for the new cars $74,000. The city applied trade-in money to help with the cost.
Council also approved a sidewalk bid for Affordable Driveways. The company one of two who bid on the project. The city also approved a new agreement for security cameras and door security.
